Welcome to No Longer Astray Dog Rescue!!

Mission Statement: We are a non-profit dog rescue/therapy organization. Our goal is to rescue abused and abandoned dogs, of which there are far too many, and find them loving, forever homes. We will choose dogs from our rescue that would be a good fit for our therapy program to take to abused children, at risk youth, as well as the elderly and those on hospice care. Our rescue runs on donations and we need your help to house, feed and care for any medical needs of the dogs we rescue. Please join us in the fight to stop the abuse and neglect of these dogs, they deserve a second chance.

No Longer Astray primarily rescues dogs that are on euthanasia lists at other facilities. Once a dog has been rescued it will receive health care and basic obedience training. Basic obedience training helps increase a dog’s chances of finding and staying in a forever home. Some of the rescue dogs are trained for therapy work. Dogs chosen as therapy dogs receive more training and become certified for service in hospice care, rehabilitation homes, and working with at risk youth, etc.

Our Beginnings

NLA was started by two friends, Jan and Pru. They started NLA not just to help animals in desperate need, but also as a way to reach out to people that are “lost, lonely or hurting.” Both Pru and Jan feel that “Working with animals opens doors to talk to people who might not normally share their heart with you. We’ve seen people overcome many emotional and physical obstacles through the love of a dog. We know the animals open people’s hearts and make sharing their hurts easier. It gives us the opportunity to be there for them and share God’s love.”

Ways you can help No Longer Astray
